Rental housing for over-55s

If you don’t qualify for social housing, you may still apply for Affordable Housing.

We have a limited amount of Affordable Housing in NSW for people on low or moderate incomes who are over 55 years old.

Are you eligible?

• You must be over 55 years old (including any household members), or
  over 45 years old if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
• You can be working full-time, part-time, or be retired.
• You must be able to live independently.
• Income eligibility applies.

Things to know about our Affordable Housing rentals

• It is a regular NSW tenancy agreement requiring 2 weeks rent in advance and 4 weeks bond.
• Some properties are not pet-friendly.
• Some properties provide parking as an additional option, depending on availability.
• Uniting villages are non-smoking.

In addition to our government partnerships, Uniting offers rental housing for over-55s at reasonable market rates on a standard NSW residential lease, as long as you can live independently and pay the rent.

• You must be able to live independently.
• You must be able to comfortably afford the rent.
• There are no maximum income limits.

Things to know about our standard rentals

• It is a regular NSW tenancy agreement requiring 2 weeks rent in advance to Uniting and 4 weeks bond paid to the Rental Bond Board.
• It has a 12-month fixed term lease with opportunity to extend.
• Some properties are not pet-friendly.
• Some properties provide parking as an additional option, depending on availability.
• Emergency call systems are not provided as part of these tenancies.
• Home care and social support are not provided by the Housing Manager or Uniting as part of this rental.
• Uniting villages are non-smoking.
